Editorial policy
Fresh Match Journal aims to make chess easier to follow while being careful about what it claims. Our articles are written for understanding and enjoyment, not as promises of results at the board.
Accuracy and clarity
We check chess terms, notation and explanations for consistency before publication. When a point depends on a particular position or context, we say so rather than turning it into a universal rule. We use clear examples and explain specialised language that a general reader may not know.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made separately from commercial arrangements. Any paid, sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage.
Corrections
If you spot a factual or notation error, contact us with the article and the specific passage. We review correction requests and amend confirmed errors with care; significant changes are identified in the article where appropriate.
Images and illustrations
Images are selected to support the subject and are not evidence for a claim. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, they are identified as such.
A game is richer when you can read its choices
We make chess language clear without flattening its character. Every board has room for curiosity, at any level of play.
